What was Roadrunner Records supposed to do after the label corralled 56 musicians from 44 different bands spanning the label's entire 25-year history to release one groundbreaking album, called Roadrunner United: The All-Star Sessions? Simple. Throw one helluva party!
The label did just that, holding a party complete with an all-star performance by artists once and currently signed to the label, as well as friends of the company!
Almost three years to the day after the now-legendary concert held at the Nokia Theater in Times Square in New York City on December 15, 2005. The concert will be available on a double DVD set.
Roadrunner United The Concert captures the festive intensity of the evening. A house band, featuring members of core Roadrunner acts such as Slipknot, Sepultura and Machine Head, performed hits and classics culled from the entirety of the Roadrunner catalogue. Some of the highlights included Slipknot/Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor performing "Bother" with Life of Agony's Keith Caputo
former Killswitch Engage singer Jesse Leach dueting with current vocalist Howard Jones for KsE's "My Last Serenade"
an assortment of frontmen handling vocals for staple songs like Slipknot's "(Sic)" and "Surfacing," Machine Head's "Davidian," King Diamond's "Abigail," Sepultura's "Refuse/Resist," Type O Negative's "Black No. 1," Soulfly's "Eye For an Eye" as well as four songs from the Roadrunner United: The All-Star Sessions album. The double disc set also includes a 75-minute documentary, complete with interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, making it an even more intimate, fan-friendly experience!

The Most Original Show Ever!

If you want to see something that wasn't even considered before in the music/metal/rock industry, because it was probably considered to be too much hard work and near to the impossible, then buy this DVD. From start to finish it had me head banging from start to finish in my lounge. It actually makes you feel like your a part of the gig itself and all you want to do is to jump into your tv, grab the mic from Rob Flynn and start singing along with them.

RR DREAM TEAM
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 20/01/2009 22:22:16
This concert is a perfect example of what would happen if you took your fav. Drummer from one band fav. Guitarist from another and so on and so on.. You get a heavy metal monster album that fans would only dream of. But in this occasion it actually happened and some of the greatest metal musicians came together to perform the RR united concert in L.A. Baring in mind this probably wouldn't of happened had the album of been a flop . But it didn't and was a success globally and at this one concert they were able to get most of the artists together Current and Past to do the album in its glory .
Is It Worth it? In my view yes it is to see that many artists come together not only for the album but for a concert aswell is a rare thing to happen.
And The Price? Under £15? You bet that's worth it considering ONE artist music dvds can be as high as £25

Roadrunner do it again! 10 out of 10!

I loved the CD when it was released. So many great musicians from some of my favourite bands, what more could I ask for?!
The concert is just amazing. All performances are top notch. Some of my favourite highlights include Corey Taylor and Keith Caputo's version of Bother (which I think is a great song anyway). Their voices work so good together. Roadrunner United's The Dagger is another highlight for me, as I just love the song and Howard Jones and Robb Flynn rip it up together, not to mention Jeff Waters on the guitar! Hearing Roadrunner United songs along with such classics within Roadrunner Records label (such as Machine Head's Davidian, Slipknot's SIC, Sepultura's Roots Bloody Roots, Killswitch Engage's My Last Serenade....) makes the concert what it was - and it was a once in a lifetime experience for those who were lucky enough to attend the gig. Just over 3 years later, the concert is on DVD. It's a must!
The documentary is interesting too, with good interviews with the musicians and acts involved.
Roadrunner United itself was 10 out of 10. The songs on the album were pure metal and Joey Jordison, Robb Flynn, Dino Cazares and Matt Heafy did an amazing job as leaders. If you are a metal or a rock fan, both the CD and DVD are a must.

Definitely one hell of an awesome show. You get such a wide spread of metal - from early Annihilator to Trivium. I've waited for ages for this one to come out and it's been completely worth it. Highly highly recommend it!

Two words sum this show up...absolutely stunning!!
With some of the best songs from roadrunners 25 year history and from some of their biggest bands this dvd is a must have for any metal fan.
"The metal show to end all metal shows"...damn straight!
You are not likely to see a show like this again...it has been well worth the wait for this dvd to be released.
Robb fynn singing trivium and slipknot! Glen benton singing obituary! Keith caputo singing with corey taylor and a massive jam session for roots bloody roots to close the show!
The documentary is great to watch too....with most of the band members involved remembering the show by watching the dvd and giving their views and stories behind the production of each track.
Absolutely brilliant! No metal fan should be without this in their collection.
