Megadeth is back with Endgame.. Their best album in years.
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 17/03/2011 20:30:42
Endgame marks the debut of latest Megadeth lead guitarist, Chris Broderick. It must be said, he immediately makes a strong bid for being the best guitarist the band has ever had. And this band has had Chris Poland, Marty Friedman, and Glen Drover play alongside the main man Dave Mustaine. Granted, the album does seem to be tailored toward showing off his abilities, but that doesn't make Broderick's performance any less amazing. All the other band members live up to their billing as well. LoMenzo's a quality bassist, Shawn Drover a great drummer, and the other guitar shredder, Mustaine.
Like all Megadeth albums what makes Endgame so great is the driving force behind the band: Dave Mustaine. His fast riffs, ripping solos, snarling vocals and varied lyrics are instantly recognisable amongst metal fans and really epitomise the sound of the band. There really is not one bad riff or solo on the whole album, and this applies to new guitarist Chris Broderick as well as Mustaine himself. Instrumental opener Dialectic Chaos highlights their impressive twin-axe attack at its best with a variety of aggressive and technical riffs, and fast shredding solos. There's actually a rather nice variety of speeds and styles to the riffs, while 1,320 and Head Crusher showcase the speed and aggression associated with more typical thrash metal songs, 44 Minutes and Bodies are much more slower-paced, yet still pack as big a punch as the aforementioned speed-fests.
It's also the sound of a band progressing further than they've ever done before, showing amazing technical prowess while remaining tight and consistent throughout. Endgame is the best metal album since their classic era
In conclusion, Megadeth has now become one of the only metal bands out there to be a major force in the industry, change their style to something more widely accepted, and make it back onto every metalhead's playlist using the formula that brought them success in the first place.

The reign of "Rust in Peace" is over. While some will argue, they can't deny the greatness of this record.Might not be exactly "Rust in Peace 2" that everybody expected, but it sure is one of the greates albums of Megadeth and a magnificent achievements in metal music. From beginning to the end you'll be astounded by melodic, but at the same time heavy, riffs and shredding solos.Sure, you'll enjoy individual tracks, but the whole record is an expirience on it's own.A jewel in every metal library.

Ok,before i say anything else this is a great thrash album no doubt and it deserves the 5 stars that i and most others have given it but i do think that alot of people have not heard some of the earlier material because in my opinion megadeths finest albums were in the 80s yes i grew up as a fan perhaps before most of the other reviewers were born and hence feel i can review this not better but with an allround approach this as i have said is a great album but i do think some people have gone over the top i think if you are relatively new to this band you would be better off getting peace sells,so far so good so what and rust in peace to truly appreciate this band not there greatest album but still great.

Excellent Thrash Record

Buying this album, I knew it would be good. What can I say? It's Megadeth! But popping it into my CD player, I was astonished! From the blistering instrumental opening leading into "This Day We Fight" you know you're in for a great time. My personal favourite is "44 Minutes" it's a great memorable tune. Basically to sum it up, it's a great CD and it's going to be one of, if not THE best album of 2009. Don't hesitate to buy it if you're a metal fan, Megadeth fan or both. You won't regret it!

The first offering from this album was the mind blowing 'head crusher' and from this great things were expected. I am happy to say that this album delivers exactly the type of high quality metal you'd expect from the living legends that are megadeth. A fast-paced, riff-filled metal masterpiece from the 'deth. You'll want to listen to it again and again - but mind your neck as you'll want to mosh hard.

If you are a fan of Megadeth or even just a metal fan then this is a must have album for the year! This album shows how a band can last so long and still produce absolutely blinding albums! It is full of heavy riffs, catchy lyrics and will not disappoint even the die hard fans! If you buy just one album this year get this! Even better get it on your christmas lists ;-)

Megadeth have always been my favourite band, and they have really excelled themselves with Endgame. It is absolutely fantastic. There is not one bad song on the album. The album opens with an instrumental 'Dialectic Chaos' which really gets you excited about what is coming next, then when it runs into 'This day we fight' you are transported back to Megadeths thrashier days. Will have you shaking your head around non stop!!!! This is a perfect album for any metal fan! Well done Dave, Shawn, Chris and James! Bring on the UK tour!!!!

This is possibly one of Megadeth's greatest album. Each track just seems to be better than the one before it. The riffs are heavy and have an in-your-face attitude, while the harmonies are melodic and and beautiful.
The acoustic solo by Mustaine on 'How the Story Ends' is simply mind-blowing. Speaking of solo's, the first track 'Dialectic Chaos' featured brilliant solo's by both Mustaine and Broderick.
I would have to say that the three best tracks on the album are: 'Endgame', 'The Hardest Part Of Letting Go' and 'Head Crusher'.
This is an album well worth buying and it may actually be one of the band's finest masterpieces.
So if you like heavy, crushing riffs, melodic harmonies and catchy choruses, then this is an album for you.
