why cancellation is crime

This show was fantastic. I was an avid viewer when this was shown on skyone, and find myself singing the theme song far too often.
The basic idea is that Jaye hears innanimate objects with animal faces talking to her: a smooshed lion, a brass monkey, a buffalo on an apron. They give her cryptic messages to get her to help people (Fat Pat, the maid who pretended to be french, the first woman to go over the falls in a barrel, etc), and ultimately help herself.
The fact that this show was cancelled by the American network after only four episodes was a true crime, because only when viewed as a full set can you appretiate Jaye and all of her quirkyness. I will continue to miss this show until it is finally available on region 2, or the mad person who decided to cancel it talks to the cow creamer, and realises the error of their way!

Wonderfalls: Season 1

Shown on Sky One a few years back and from the same pen as "Dead Like Me", "Wonderfalls" is one of the best shows of the past few years. Of course - like many other US shows of this decade - it was prematurely cancelled.
And just like VampFan, if this show was released on Region 2 DVD, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Only four episode were shown in the US, and they get a Region 1 DVD release. We had the entire season aired, and we get nothing!

I really loved this show. It is highly original and very witty, in a very dry sort of way. I like shows that are a bit different, like Buffy, Angel, Carnivale etc and Wonderfalls is now in my top 5 shows. Wonderfalls is well written, full of wry humour and there isn't one duff character in it - Why it was cancelled is anybody's guess, but i'm not shocked, with the amount of reality crap and shows like CSI, Law & order absolutely EVERYWHERE, it leaves little room for wee gems like this. I really hope this is released on Region 2 cos i'd buy it in a heartbeat. Jaye Tyler is a disillusioned early twenties something working in the Niagra Falls souvenir shop - life is normal (but VERY dull) until inanimate objects start telling her to do things. She does these things even though she's not quite sure what it's all about..or the reasons why....and hilarity ensues. Caroline Dhavernas is brilliant and charming as Jaye. Shamefully, for the Network, only 4 episodes were shown but here it is now in its complete glory. Don't be worried about being left dangling either at the end the series, it ends nicely wrapped up. I'll miss Jaye and her family and her friends, hell! even the theme tune brings a big smile to my face. Buy it, love it and add it to your 'shows cancelled way too early' shrine.......
