Cool and strong as the wind, blows your mind.

One of the few albums that really has it all, not a bad song in sight and every song has a different view. Lyrically and musically it is uplifting whilst with a sense of objection to today's world. The songs make you think, and truly reflects on your life. Great album, recommend it for just about anyone.

THE BENCH-MARK........AMAZING !!
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 06/02/2012 15:23:15
This is an amazing album, easily in my top 5 ever, this band changed music and every band after them will admit that.
Its such a cool album and every song s great, although Hard To Explain and Sometimes are my favourites, along with Modern Age.
Music today needs a band to come along and shake the foundations....and once in a while, a band does, this was one of those moments.............exceptional.

Could an album be this good?
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 06/09/2011 15:45:37
Yes it can. This is by far one of the best albums of all time, and for the Indy genre it could be the best album, only being rivaled by "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" by the Arctic Monkeys. There is not a single track that lets the album down and with a 4.99 price tage its an absolute bargain and a must have to any Indy music library.

The Best Band Ever?
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 05/05/2010 00:21:27
Okay, so I'm a massive fan, but since their amazing debut and hype that preceded them, put simply, no band has had quite the same impact. The Strokes look and sound the part, and their unique garage rock lent to a revival of eighties inspired sound that followed.
The album is essentially 38 mins of flawless music, and the Strokes have never sounded so urgent or vital since. "The Modern Age" "Hard To Explain" "NYC Cops" and "Take It Or Leave It" are just stone cold classic tunes.
The other two albums - Room on Fire and First Impressions of Earth in particular are a mixed bag, but by then, after listening to this, you wonder what happened? Hope the fourth album will put them back at the top!

This is a brilliant album and a must have for any indie/rock fan. All the song are both lyrically in-depth and are very catchy. Last nite and someday are my personal favourites closely followed by barley legal and trying your luck.

"Is This It" is a masterpiece.
Pure NY Indie rock & roll at its finest. A sound thats been copied many times since but never bettered. This is The Best of The Strokes albums, its a modern classic and should be in every respectable rock N' roll music collection.

The best indie album ever made........end of.........
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 11/04/2008 22:47:48
The new decade was upon us, and every decade has a musical genre. The strokes saw the way forward.
Since this album was released there have been many indie bands sprout up from villages and towns alike. Is this it is one of greatest indie records ever realesed. With guitar riffs and laid back vocals, the strokes deliver a throughly enjoyable sound focussing on key elements in a teenagers life. The best tracks are Last Nite and Hard to explain, Which follow the same indie pop sound led by catchy guitars. You are not a fan of indie until you have owned this album, an essential.
