Chicken 'Frikking Awesome' Foot
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 13/07/2009 08:52:03
And there I went, off to see Chickenfoot on the Bospop Festival in Holland and what a show did they give. You could read their enthousiasm and joy from their faces and hear it back in the music they played. A high energy performance with solid rocksongs, a bit of goofing around between the bandmembers but overall just joy. I enjoyed this band the most of the festival. Now I bought the CD just to be able to remember the festival and how good it was and I think it's more then worth it to have it. Rock on !

Great rock album

Great rock n roll album. Only track 9 lets it down in my opinion from being a perfect album. Not often can you enjoy every track of a cd you buy. But this is a real treat and you can hear some of it was recorded from start to finish live! Joe makes the odd mistake here and there, Chad makes some impromptu fills and it all sounds great. If you like any of these musicians or are just a rock fan, BUY THIS ALBUM. A bonus is the heat sensitive packaging :)

To be honest ,I didn,t expect this.Four big egos trying to get the top spot. I was proved wrong soon as the first track finished. This is superb rock music .Its as though these guys have been playing together for years. The production is excelent, low down and dirty.I wait with baited breath for any live appearances. Buy this album

Flown The Coop!

Firstly, may I say that I have the utmost respect for the fine musicians who comprise Chickenfoot, having been a fan of their respective individual work for many years... and I think that's where the problem lies.
Chickenfoot isn't Satch, VH or RHCP and it's to the detriment of this album to try and draw the comparison. Taken on its own merits with little knowledge of their 'day jobs' I suspect this album stands on it's own two (chicken)feet quite respectably.
For me though, Joe was restrained by the confines of verse/chorus, Chad lost that Chili personality and the Van Halen boys seemed to be reaching out to the eco conscious rockers of tomorrow rather than that bottle of JD and a sun-kissed beach.
My three-star rating reflects the fact that I am optimistic this is a 'grower' and that only 5 listens in, I haven't tapped into the Chickenfoot vibe. Try before you buy.

If you like good, solid, rock, know the background of these guys, and had been wondering what they were like together - it's a no-brainer!
Quite simply, it kicks ass. What a line-up. Solid back beat as you'd expect. Incredible range from Hagar. And Satch unleashed. Need I say more?!

Ok, So I got this yesterday, listened to it briefly and then spent all day tuesday with it on my ipod at work. Its not instant genius but really does begin to work itself under your skin. Dont expect lyrical genius, but if you like riffage, some old school rough vocals with a good beat then this is the one...... just dont take it all too seriously. These guys reminded me of that film cocoon where the old people get a bit crazy!!

Putting the 'super' back in 'supergroup'
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 09/06/2009 20:26:59
Heard about this and i was quite excited but then figured it would probably be just a group of (once?) great musicians throwing something half decent together to top up their (looming? - Perhaps not!) pensions. And it was a stoopid name for a band too. Well, now i have the cd and wow - this is awesome stuff - joe's guitar work and sound is amazing (i'm a fan of his solo stuff but here there's a caged fury about his work which is...just...so...right...and bone crushingly brilliant...phew!) and you realize what a truly great player he is, especially within the context of a band - it's all blue flame with no yellow excess. And the drums - chugging, thumping, powerful - i like chad's stuff with glenn hughes but this is even better - less boomy and ostentatious but just so tight and cutting. Excellent bass from mr anthony - as well as background vocals and hagar is great too - scorching and abrasive although in my opinion he struggles to fit in a little around all of the other instrumental thunder. Some nice mellow moments too - very seasonal and summery. Production is top notch - superb! Best album i've heard in ages - check samples and if you like style buy and enjoy! It...just...rocks!

A bit non-pussed !

All the people involved in this project are the best at what they do. But put them all together and their is a corporate feel to this that means that it isnt as good as the best they have done on their own or with their previous bands.
Perhaps i was expecting too much but it doesnt stand out as anything different. Yes its full of energy-beatifully played and produced but its just too slick. If its meant to be rock n roll then the answer have them beaten on sheer energy and their live feel.
Shame,i was looking forward to this.
