James Bond's mission begins with a spectacular high-speed hovercraft chase through a minefield in the demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea - and the action doesn't let up until the credits roll. From Hong Kong to Cuba to London, Bond circles the world in his quest to unmask a traitor and prevent a war of catastrophic proportions. On his way he crosses paths with Jinx (Oscar ®-winner Halle Berry) and Miranda Frost (Rosamund Pike), who will play vital roles in his latest adventure. Hot on the trail of deadly megalomaniac Gustav Graves (Toby Stephens) and his ruthless right-hand man Zao (Rick Yune), Bond travels to Iceland into the villain's lair: a palace built entirely of ice. There he experiences firsthand the power of a new hi-tech weapon. Ultimately it all leads to an explosive confrontation - and an unforgettable conclusion - back in Korea where it all started.

Blu-ray all zone
Ratio of the feature film:
Languages of the feature film:
DTS Master Audio 5.1: English
DTS 5.1: French, German
Dolby 5.1: Latin Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese
Dolby 2.0: 2 commentaries including Pierce Brosnan himself !
Subtitles for all the videos:
German, French, Latin Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish and English for the hearing impaired
A picture quality is not as perfect as we would expect especially when we take into account the age of this film. Nevertheless, it does still look very good with a fine picture. I personally do not like the dull colour used for the pre-credit sequence but it is very well depicted accurate to the cinema experience.
Why a 5.1 soundtrack whereas the film was mixed in 6.1 and released in Dolby EX and DTS-ES in the cinemas?
Nevertheless, this 5.1 soundtrack is very good and dynamic.
With this upgrade, you will see as usual a lot of stunt-doubles during the opening sequence for instance standing for Pierce Brosnan and Will Yun Lee (Colonel Moon) while chasing each other!
The bad mark is the bonuses:
There are much less numerous than on the 2-DVD edition, no trailers, no video clip (for those who like Madonna's song), no special documentary only available on the zone 2 DVD, no advertisement about Nightfire.
That is slightly disappointing compare to other titles of the series which are full of documentaries.

Not as bad as painted

Bond 20 is an extravagant and very entertaining action movie - the first of the series to largely embrace some rather ropey CGI special effects - with Bond tracking down a renegade North Korean colonel. Throw in a DNA altering subplot, and of course the usual proliferation of great stunts and sets (the ice palace is a marvel), and we find a franchise in remarkably good form after 40 years, invisible car notwithstanding.
A pristine Blu-ray transfer too.

Disappointing Storyline but BRILLIANT MOVIE!

The story line of this film (giant space laser) was stupid. They shouldn't have gone anywhere near a story line like that. The 'invisible car' rubbish was silly aswell. Oh, and the fact that when he drives through the ice wall, its blatant that he lands on a big bit of snow, but with a change of angle, :O its gone! But after all that negativity, it was a VERY well made movie and Brosnan is very nearly at his best! Halle Berry makes a great Bond girl and Bond's gadgets (with the exception of his invisible car!) were very entertaining. Definitely worth buying!! And I'd recommend Blu-Ray over DVD too.

An unfortunate end to Brosnan's legacy

After the terrific Goldeneye Brosnan's films started to decline in quality, but they were always enjoyable until Die Another Day. From the inappropriate choice of theme song to the invisible car, giant space laser, bone marrow transplant for alteration of physical appearances and ice palace this is a film that forgets the golden rule of Bond, allow the audience to suspend their disbelief so that the audience can happily enjoy the ride.
We do however have one thing to thank die another day for, its blunders brought about the very welcome restart with Casino Royale.

Good but not Great

I have given my 4 stars on the basis of the Blu Ray package with MGM/Fox turning out yet again another superb picture and audio transfer making it the best version you will have ever seen. Again as with the other releases in this first batch of Bonds the extras pretty much mirror the dvd Untimate Edition extras.
As for the movie this is the movie that almost killed the Bond franchise which is why Casino Royale was a complete re-boot of the series. Its over the top (even for Bond), poorly scripted, Madonna acts in it (never a good thing) and employs some really bad CGI shown up very badly on this brilliant transfer.
I have puchased this from Play myself but as a bond completest only, I will even buy the awful View To A Kill to complete the set when its released but if you can only buy a few titles and not them all get Dr. No, From Russia With Love and For Your Eyes Only first before you get this.

it's about time these bond movies were put on blu-ray they deserve the best picture and sound my only bug bear is that blu-ray holds 5 times more info so why can't the studios put more extras instead of pointless subtitles which nobody wants to read give us what we want MORE EXTRAS ON BLU-RAY WELL WORTH THE CASH!!!
