So bad it's...... just bad

As a fan of B movies, trash and monsters, I trawled through the reviews and decided that at this price it was probably my sort of movie. Ouch, how wrong I was, the acting, dialogue and story line are so bad as to make it painful, and that's coming from someone who though Zombie Strippers was a good movie! If this was an action monster movie, it was bad. If it is supposed to be a B move/spoof it fails..... sorry only gets 2 stars because of the special effects.

This is a fantastic film, forget godzilla and king kong and all them boring giants, dragon wars is bigger than them and more fun!! Simple story and wild effects make this film so much fun to watch, its like a classic monster movie. This film is a gem!!!!

If you like movies soooo bad theyre funny, this is it. I was howling with laughter all the way through it. From the bad acting to the terrible story and dialogue. This is a comedy must. Shame it wasnt done on purpose.

Draggin' Wars... Zzzzz...
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 04/02/2009 02:12:03
So, a film promising city battles between dragons and monsters against the army and tanks with helicopers... Buildings being crushed and cars thrown about... A 70 million budget, whats not to like? A lot it seems.
Directed by a japanese comedian (seriously!) this movie lacks the excitment that a b movie should have. It also cannot come under the tag of 'so bad it's good'. A ridiculous story line brings the 'dragons' into today's la for some carnage. Adding some waffle about saving a young girl, who is suppossed to be sacrificed to the biggest snake type dragon, just leads the film off into snooze territory. For a film with huge potential to entertain, it's a shame it helps cure insomnia. Bad acting takes on a new level with robert forester (the black hole, jackie brown) walking through the movie, only missing a sign around his neck saying 'will act for food'.
If curiosity gets the better of you as it did me, then take my advice and wait for it to appear on tv. For the blu ray fans, the picture and sound is superb.
It only just managed a 2 star rating for me as the effects are 'ok' and more importantly, the filmakers did not drag it out to a jumbled bum numbing running time. It's quite a short movie thankfully...

OMG What a load of....

I just watched this and can't believe how bad it is. I spend the whole movie laughing at the bad acting, and also how the scenes jump with no story transition. One minute they are one place next they another. One minute they dont know each other next in love and passionate kiss on the beach.
Had to come online to say don't waste money renting or buying. I can't believe the makers would even think that was even worth releasing as it is. Maybe with some editing, and new scenes of the army leader who can act.

I bought this and really really wanted to like it. I tried so hard to like it. When the back of the box boasts "Dragon Wars is a $75 million dollar movie", I wuld have at least thought they may spend some of that on someone who can act. Its not just one or two bad actors though, its all of them!! CGI interaction is apalling. The CGI dragons are passable, just, and the story is---well, has more holes than swiss cheese. If you make one mistake, dont let this one be it. Can honestly say its the worst film I've ever seen (no exaggeration)

This film has been slated by critics but is actually quite enjoyable in a brainless way. The acting it has to be said is awful and the script not great but it is very action packed and the effects are pretty decent and not cheap,
Transfer in HD is very good as is the soundtrack.
If you are doing the 3 or 2 offer and are trying to find that 3rd movie to pick you could do much worse than this.
