Good solid and enjoyable war film.

Recently purchased this film on DVD and I have to say I was very pleased. The cast is recognisable and there are some big names here too such as Sean Bean. Whilst it can be seen the budget is small it does not detract from the film and in general it works well. The only low point is the end which leaves you with some unanswered questions. Recommended.

I demand the 1hr30mins of my life back from watching this film!! Utter garbage....Im a massive Sean bean fan but this was dreadful, could have been so much more. I actually dozed off for 10mins. The plot shocking, Acting worse I mean theres a schoolkid from Holyoaks is in it for goodness sake!! None of the charactors had any personality about them and you couldnt relate to any of them. Normally you sit there and think at the end "ah wish he.she hadnt of died" I sat there begging it to end.....save ya cash this aint worth ya money!!!!!

Proof that you cant make a good war movie on a low budget

As tempting and eye catching as the trailer is it is nothing as you would expect it to be. Sean bean plays a great role as usual and plays quite a good character throughout but what kept me thinking and annoyed was why danny Dyer was one of the main characters? he plays a very unrealistic role with his cockney accent and diologue that you would very rarely expect during ww2, he is still a good actor in the film but a very unrealistic one.
The film itself left me bored until the final 10 minutes when action finally arrived but the film seemed to drag on with very little action throughout and when there was actually action I was dissapointed when there was very little blood, bullets flying and tense moments. The film did not draw me in whatso ever and I even turned it off half way through the film because I was so bored. There was very little story to the movie and the plot left me bored and wanting to see action, gore and effects which you would usually expect, I was very let down.
Another thing that dissapointed me was that you did see a lot of the other characted and you do not really get to know who they are and you do not build a relationship with them. What you want to see is when a soldier dies is "Oh not him, i really liked him" but I did not care.
Another problem with the film was the low budget, this was too obvious during the film providing that there was very little violence, effects and the actors were poorly picked and most unknown.
I usually advise people to at least watch the film but with this one it is too much of a let down. I advise you not to even bother watching it, the only reason why I rated it 2 and not 1 because I enjoyed sean beans role, this was the only character who was good during the movie.
Overall a huge dissapointed and I will tell you not to be fooled by the trailer, the trailer probably features scenes from the last 4 minutes of the film where there was actually action.

I was looking forward to this film I do like Dyer and Bean films but together there performances seemed weak and did not enjoy this film which comes accross as a budgit movie not worth a tenner and the two big names made it the more of a let down.

Probably the worst WW2 war film ive seen in a while. It does not authenticate the time. The characters are dull. The plot is thin. The German troops are simply stereotypes. Bean is Bean and quite dreadful and totally unconvincing as an officer.
The whole film just lacked substance.

Very good attempt

Although by no means perfect this movie is very enjoyable and they have worked wonders considering the low budget. Britain used to make tremendous war movies but there hasn't been a good one for decades, in fact I can't think of any in the last decade or two. This movie is a cross between The Dirty Dozen and Heroes of Telemark although the storyline isn't similar to these movies but the background, characters and locations are what remind me of these movies.
Personally I found Sgt Mac to the best best character in a movie that has plenty of action but not a great deal of direction. The majority of characters weren't given much substance and the movie dwelled on two characters for the most part. Towards the end it felt a bit rushed and could have done with another 20 of 30 mins to develop characters and to give the storyline more substance.
A very good attempt nonetheless and definitely worth a watch. With a bigger budget this could have been something special.

first of all the plot is a commando group has to go behind enemy lines to steal a piece of german technology...
the film starts off reasonably well...but before you know it..its all over and you dont really care what happens to characters and wheather they live or die..as you can imagine the film focuses on bean and dyer but still theres no feeling from the viewer to even care the outcome of the characters they play..oh and watch out for the scottish seargent and the phrase he uses when meeting the group...that was taken from another war movie...
all in all dont be fooled by the trailer...have seen worse but have seen alot better one time watch only.....
