Better than most albums out there
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 31/03/2010 19:56:15
After buying How To Dismantle a Atomic Bomb before this I was very dissappointed. It's average album but better than most out there, but not a classic by a long shot. Buy it to be good, not be the best album you ever bought.

I have all the U2 albums and recently bought this one. It has blown me away......It's the best album I've heard in years from the lads...There is not a bad track on this album... Song 3 "moment of surrender" is my favourite... can't wait to see them live on 25th and 27th of July 2009....... This album will not let you down... BUY IT.....

My Dad bought this album recently, and in the last week, I have listened to it in full no less than 13 times. Its that amazing. I know a lot of people who dont like Get on Your Boots, and although its grown on me, I think its no-were near the best track, if anything it may actually be one of the albums weak points. The other songs are a revilation, amazing to drive to, or just put on in the background. I wasnt a massive fan of U2, but this albums convinced me.

U2 No Line On The Horizon
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 06/04/2009 17:51:44
I was never a fan of U2 and certainly not Bono but his music has grown on me since I've got older and this album is brillant Magnificent and Moment Of Surrender are amazing tracks but very unusual for Bono nt his type of music usually he's more into a rocky edge. Moment Of Surrender and White As Snow are very relaxin there's abit in Moment Of Surrender when the guiter only bit comes in you could be listing to Dire Straits (Mark Knopler) the greatest guitarist in the world so was quite shocked by Bono using this method but well done Bono u did gud.
This album is amazing and is certainly his greatest album yet. A must buy whether you like him or not.
As I said earlier I don't like Bono but I now love his music funny life isn't it.

U2 show Coldplay how a great rock album should be done!

As I felt Coldpalys last ablum was far to over produced and a bit naff compared to their other great ablums before it. Now U2 have fairly recently given us the most excellent All That You Can't Leave Behind and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. You might thing they can't get any better and you would be wrong because No Line On The Horizon overall is their best work since the ground breaking Joshua Tree album. The hit single Get On Your Boots has areally funky bass line and the title track is a brilliant song. For me the two best songs are Moment Of Surrender and Unknown Caller. Overall this is U2 right back at the top of their game showing everybody why they have been the most successful band in the world for the last 20+ years. There are no fillers here and if you like U2 then you will love this new album trust me.

last 2 tracks saved me from selling
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 03/04/2009 15:11:17
The album is pretty average throughout the whole album until "Breathe" starts. "Breathe" is such an amazing song and I don't understand why it wasn't the first single...and if it doesn't come out as a single at one point then the record label are making mistakes. The the last track "Cedars....." is a nice chilled out song much different to the others on the album and I found that these 2 tracks saved what was a typical U2 album.

the magic is back
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 03/04/2009 13:06:38
OK so the last two U2 albums had some great tunes on there but did they have that U2 magic? Well No Line on the Horizon certainly does. I heard it first on 'FEZ-Being Born' - the track doesn't sound like previous U2 but then it doesnt sound like any other band. 'Unknown Caller' has the same feel, and magic, about it.
There's also some brillant 'straightforward rock' tunes like 'Crazy tonight', 'Stand Up' and the amazing 'Breathe' - for me the best tune on the album.
Actually it's worth noting that if you were put off by the first single 'Get on your Boots' then you'll be pleased to know that it's probably the weakest song on the album. That said it does fit well within the context of the entire collection of songs.
A great album.

there fineist hour in twenty years

It has been a mediocre past two decades for the mighty oirish foursome and ever since the immense efforts of joshua and achtung there post recordings have never come remotely close until i am pleased to say now with this there latest effort.absolutely love it,from the opening title track which is superb right through with other stand out tracks being stand up comedy, magnificent and i'll go crazy if i don't go crazy tonight.lets just hope we don't have to wait another 20 years.

Back (U)2 Form
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 29/03/2009 20:28:07
After the relatively average 'Atomic Bomb' u2 return to form with some style and a new sound on the first songle 'Get on your boots'. Standout tracks 'Magnificent', 'Moment of Surrender and a U2 classic, Breathe, make up a pretty special record. Almost all of these tracks could be played when U2 tour in the summer except for probably the quite brilliant 'Cedars of Lebanon' Lookout Coldplay, U2 want their Best Band in the World crown back!!!!
