This is my favourite album of all time no doubt. Its so fresh and hasnt dated one bit. For 5 pound I'd recommend any one to buy even if you've not heard of his or this album. Also 11.99 for the deluxe edition = a steal.

If you want to get into Beck, buy this album. This is the first Beck album I was introduced to, and it left a lasting impression. I think the term 'lo-fi' may apply to this album, but it's beautiful in its own way.

Beck has always been known for his musical diversity. from Rock to Folk to Blues to even Prince-Inspired Jam sessions. this is the album that really shows how diverse he goes.
he's an excellent artist, who is probably best known for the songs "Loser" and "E-Pro". while this album doesn't have those songs on, it's an awesome album. There's some Radio-Friendly songs, whilst some of the songs, such as "Novocane" could actually be classed as "heavy". If that's not enough to attract your attention, this has been named "one of the albums that defined the 90's", and has been praised by a huge amount of critics. highly recommended.

Probably one of the best albums ever!

Although 'Mellow Gold' got people talking about Beck when it was released way back in 1994 it was really this album that got both the critics AND my attention. As unbelevable as it sounds I only recently purchased this album for the first time and was so suprised by how it sounded in general.
Prior to buying this I had no idea how much of a diverse and talented artist, songwriter and musician Beck actually was. I think its very rare for an artist to be able to seamlessly blend an orgy of music genres all into a single album yet he manages to do it all with ease. Rock, hip-hop and rap, folk, jazz and even a bit of country appear in the songs with Beck's lyrics being both weird and poignant at the same time. Great stuff
Its such a crying shame that today's music is completly shambled with such talentless, carefree and lazy artists such as Kate Nash, Girls Aloud, Chamillionarie etc and all that other rubbish. To hear Becks music in a modern society is quite literally 'music to my ears' and I'm talking about REAL music here!
Personally I recommend 'Devil's Haircut', 'The New Pollution', 'Where Its At' and 'Minus' to be the best songs on the album. So whoever you are give this album a listen and you might just like it (or even love it) like I did.
