Their best album and one of the best metal albums ever!
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 27/06/2012 18:59:16
Megadeth is probably the best metal band in the world because they produced this masterpiece called Rust in Peace! Shut up and buy this masterpiece! You won't be disappointed! Note: This Review was made by Play.com customer: MegadethItaly on Rakuten’s Play.com on the date shown.
Thrash-tastic
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 16/03/2011 23:20:01
The energy that comes across is overwhelming and there appears to be a lot of thought behind the lyrics and song structures. a solid album throughout and except for "dawn patrol", there are no slow numbers. the lead guitar is the highlight and "tornado of souls" has my favourite guitar solo of all time. the doublekick-heavy drumming style is too intense for mainstream radio listeners but the production is not overly heavy. the music sounds smooth and polished allowing for the vocals to be emphasised. this put me off initially because it didn't satisfy my thirst for a heavy sound . it took me several listens to realise the greatness of this cd but once given a chance, the term "all killer, no filler" is an accurate description. megadeth have other great songs but Rust in Peace is by far the strongest album as a whole. this is an essential purchase. Very good

I was new to Megadeth when I purchased this and I love it. Pretty much every song is great, all including an almost silly amount of epic guitar solo's. Songs that mainly stand out are Holy Wars, Hangar 18, Tornado of Souls and Polaris. But there are no bad songs. Overall, if you are fan of metal, and especially bands like Metallica and Slayer, you should buy this. A true thrashterpiece

This album is one of my all time favourite metal albums. Everything about it is top quality, and it still feels state of the art even now, 20 years after it was released. ive been a megadeth fan for about 4 years, and ive heard all their albums, including the newest one endgame, which is excellent, but this still stands as the best in my opinion. from the opening thrash epic holy wars to the closing stunner rust in peace..polaris this album is an excercise in technical proficiency, songwritng brilliance and its mixed to perfection. every instrument is perfectly audible, and dave mustaines snarling vocals are present and correct delivering his lyrics in his own unique, belligerent way. Every song stands out as a classic, and in my opinion this is one of the best metal albums ever. This truly deserves a place in any metal collection. Classic thrash, best Megadeth album.
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 24/11/2009 09:37:48
Amazing album as Megadeth are easily the most original and the most thrashy sounding band out of the big four metal groups. Album starts with the classic ' Holy Wars' then the thrashy 'Hangar 18' whcih are both standout tracks. Others include 'Lucretia', 'Take No Prisoners' and 'Tornado of Souls'. There are amazing guitars and driving bass and this makes it the best album from Megadeth and is up there with classic metal albums such as Metallica's Master of Puppets. Great album but not TOTALLY a remaster ;)
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 17/02/2009 15:59:01
This album is amazing, a true masterpiece of Thrash, but I have this as well as the original pressing of this album because... this 'remaster' has tracks that have been re-recorded by Mustaine because apprently some of the master tapes were lost, this means on tracks such as 'Take No Prisoners' and 'Five Magics' there are inferior vocals. The album is by far better produced than the original though with a much boosted sound. But If you can still find it buy the original because that has ALL the tracks as they were originally. Holy Wars and Hanger 18 are as they were on the original, not all tracks have been altered, some have just been remastered, others not though. This album rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not a massive fan of Megadeth, more of a maiden fan myself but this album definitely gets my vote. The guitaring is outstanding, I can remember when my brother had it on vinyl and we used to listen to it on the slower setting and the skill of the guitaring still showed through. The lyrics are awesome, the drumming is awesome, a must buy for any Megadeth or Metal fan. Note: This Review was made by Play.com customer: taggert on Rakuten’s Play.com on the date shown.
dave mustaine on top form.

This is by far megadeths best album rivaled only by peace sells. Holy wars being a fantastic opener followed by hanger 18 has the best guitar work on the album and some of the best guitar work ever from a thrash band. Take no prisoners and tornado souls keep your interest with dawn patrol providing a nice groovy interlude with rust in peace bringing it to an epic end. A definite for megadeth fans or thrash fans alike. Note: This Review was made by Play.com customer: hardass9087 on Rakuten’s Play.com on the date shown.
Megadeth treads on new ground with Golden-Era line up.

After 2 purely thrash orientated albums many expected change for their 4th album, but none knew what was to come their way with this release. After parting way withyet another guitarist and missing out on a chance to welcome dimebag darrel (ex.-pantera/ damage plan) into the team, dave mustaine settled for marty friedman, a guitarrist who over the years has built a reputation as one of the world's top guitarists, and this showed on this release. Rust in peace is very progressive, making it 10x more complex than any of its predecessors with tracks like hangar 18 containing total of 11 solos. It's fair to say that this album is key in megadeth's carreer and a must have for any fan, so great was the album's importance that many of its tracks remain as staples in the band's live setlists to this day. Tracks to look out for are "hangar 18", "holy wars", "take no prisioners" and "tornado of souls" Note: This Review was made by Play.com customer: recordstores on Rakuten’s Play.com on the date shown.

Megadeth's second best album after "Countdown..." It's so awesome. "Lucretia", "Hangar 18", "Dawn Patrol" and "Rust in peace"? What more could you want? Note: This Review was made by Play.com customer: MindTheGap on Rakuten’s Play.com on the date shown.
