I have nothing to add to the reviews below. It is fantastic album with great tracks "Lonely Soul" (also known from the infamous Assassin's Creed trailer) and "Be There", number 13.
Because I am big fan of the music from the DJ Shadow, I didn't know if this cd would fit in my collection. The answer is yes. If you got Endtroducing and The Private Press, you should really get this album.

For the reviewer below who only gave this album 4 stars, on the album I recently got (prompt as always from the reliable play.com) has 13 tracks with unkle & ian brown's being there (or as iTunes calls him ian crown) making it the bakers dozen. Highly recommended.

An incredible album. UNKLE has a great talent and it shows in this album (and the other 2). Spooky rhythm that can be fully respected if you listen to it properly. Celestial Annihilation is a fantastic song. Rabbit In Your Headlights and Lonely Soul are brilliant songs that will send you to another planet. Close your eyes, sit back and let this album drift you away...

UNKLE are an amazing outfit, producing music better than [possibly] anyone has in the 10 years since the original release of this record. It's rare to say this and it be true, but every track on Psyence Fiction is fantastic. Some songs (tacky rap track "The Knock" and utterly bizarre "Getting Ahead...", I'm looking at you!) aren't quite as good as others (the best, in my opinion, being Richard Ashcroft and Thom Yorke's contributions: "Lonely Soul" and "Rabbit in your Headlights" respectively). There's a track for everyone on here. "Main Title Theme" is perfect for sticking on your mobile as your ringtone, "Bloostain" is an Alice Temple (of Massive Attack) assisted soul-chiller, "Nursery Rhyme" is a real get-up-and-go rock tune and "Celestial Annihilation" is an ambient dance track that penetrates your brain.
The only reason I could summon for you to not buy this record is that there is an alternative version carrying an extra track entitled "Be There" with the Stone Roses' Ian Brown laying down lyrics over "Unreal" (track 4). This really is an excellent song and to have the album without it is to not have the album at its best.

This is an essential album if you're into the whole Trip-Hop thing.
All of the songs are excellent and interesting, from the dark chill of "Celestial Annihilation", to the lively and mindblowing "The Knock (Drums of Death pt. II)", to the mellow and emotional "Rabbit in your Headlights".
Most of the tracks are collaborations with some fantastic other artists, inc. Thom Yorke , Mark Hollis (ex-Talk Talk), The Beastie Boys, Badly Drawn Boy, Richard Ashcroft, Ian Brown and, of course, not forgetting DJ Shadow.
As I said, all the songs, all of them, are absolutely boss, and definitely stand the test of time, I've had this album for ages and I still love it as much when I first heard it. And that's a lot of love!
Take it from me, this album is blinding!
