They came too late and stayed too long.
Director Sam Peckinpah's film The Wild Bunch, a powerful tale of hangdog desperados bound by a code of honor, rates as one of the all-time greatest Westerns. In 1994 it was restored to a complete, pristine condition unseen since its July 1969 theatrical debut - and this digitally remastered anamorphic transfer showcases it to renewed blood-and-thunder effect. Watch William Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Robert Ryan and more great stars saddle up for the roles of a lifetime.

firstly its not really a western as its set too late to be a real cowboy, gun-slinger movie. secondly, the beginning and end are awesome, but in between it feels dragged out boring at times. still a classic and at this price a must have!

This is my favorite western of all time i have on DVD but was must buy when i saw it was on Blu -Ray at a bargain price.
Every one who has seen the film know the story and it was also the first movie to have blood splurting out in slow -mo it set the trend but never bettered.
Picture quality is first class, but i was so disapointed with the sound,my rear speakers never came into play even though it is 5.1 dolby surround, even in the shoot out it was all front speakers.
So that is the reason i gave ot 4 out of 5 other wise a great film and should be added to every one's collection

'the wild bunch' is set during the early part of the '20th century' .....
a time when the day of the outlaw was coming to an end.
the gang featured in the film are set-up by the rail bosses the gang had robbed from over and over, this time the outlaws were robbing a bank.....but.......gunmen were waiting on the roof tops, led by an ex-gang member that has been offered freedom in return for killing the 'wild bunch'
after the failed robbery the surviving members planned one last heist, to rob a train of it's cargo..........weapons...to sell for gold..the buyer a 'mexican' general who was leading a small army and thus controlling the villages in location of his stronghold.
'william holden' and 'ernest borgnine' head the cast, leading the so called 'wild bunch' their persuers led by another screen legend 'robert ryan'
this is a gritty western with one of the best finale's of all time.
wether this format enhances enough to go 'blu-ray' is down to personal choice, either way it's a great western.
