Bonnie and Clyde balances itself on a knife-edge of laughter and terror, thanks to vivid title role performances by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway and superb support from Michael J. Pollard, Gene Hackman and Estelle Parsons. Director Arthur Penn keeps the film's sensibilities tough but never cruel. It continually dazzles, especially in the work of cinematographer Burnett Guffey and editor Dede Allen. And as film lovers since have discovered, it's no ordinary gangster movie.

this cinematic masterpiece is now beautifully cleaned up in 1080p for the blu ray release. a ground-breaking, violent movie that, even after 43 years, is truly awesome.

Still packs a punch

Two dissatisfied young people hook up in Depression era America's midwest and the cinema was never the same again. While this broke all sorts of taboos about screen violence (and actually hasn't been rendered too tame in the intervening years), it was iconoclastic in so many other ways, notably director Arthur Penn's loose way of filming that added a shocking sense of immediacy to the proceedings. A star-making vehicle for Faye Dunaway, boiling over with sexual tension, ideally coupled with an energetic Warren Beatty, this still looks as fresh and vibrant as it did back in 1967. Especially on Blu-ray which ably showcases Burnett Guffey's Oscar-winning cinematography.

Five star Blu-ray release!

This is not only one of my favourite films but its also one of the best Blu-ray released discs so far. The transfer quality is awesome (despite just one scene later on in the film) and the extras aren't too bad either with an hour long documentary on how the film was made, perhaps they are a little light on extra extras but it doesn't really matter.
But the film itself is a masterwork with great central performances from Faye Dunaway (who's never looked as gorgeous as she does here!) and Warren Beatty, there is also great support from Gene Hackman and Michael J Pollard as the supporting members of the Barrow gang. The action in the film is also riveting too and visually its just superb, its even got an annoyingly catch banjo score too.
So Bonnie and Clyde is one of the best films of the 1960s and is a must buy on Blu-ray.
