The full-blooded version of Antoine Fuqua's gritty interpretation of the Arthurian legend with 17 minutes of footage not seen at the cinema!
Britain, the 6th century: Artorious Castus (Owen), better known among his people as Arthur, is the leader of a select group of Sarmatian knights who, after impressing the occupying Roman forces with their fighting skills and righteous honour, have been incorporated into the elite ranks of the Roman army.
However, the occupying forces are withdrawing from Britain to protect Rome from the onslaught of barbarians on the continent and with freedom on the horizon after 15 years of bloody service, Arthur and his knights must protect the liberty of the country from invading Saxons...

Very good film but with poor casting with Clive Owen as King Arthur is it just me or cant he act??? Anyways the Directors cut is much better then the cinema release with more fighting and more blood which helps really set the stage. With all the popular knights in it and few added extras brings this as a good action flick.

A really good film the fight scenes are great and the picture quality is excellent. I have had this film on normal DVD for ages and played it numerous times. I was expecting to see more in the film on blue ray but was disappointed that is the only reason it recieved 4 stars not 5. It is still one of my favourites.

'a 'blue-ray' spectacle' a different version of a 'legend'
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 17/01/2008 22:25:39
if you've read any of my reviews you'll know i do love this type of movie.
i first saw this film at the cinema when released and later on 'dvd', i've tried to be selective when buying 'blue ray'
and suspected 'action' films are in my humble opinion what 'blue ray' and 'hd' were made for, and yes 'arthur' is a great example of the 'action' film point in question.
giving stunning visuals and great sound clarity is why i will for the time being choose 'action' type films on 'blue ray'
'king arthur' has a great array of 'top notch' stars on show.
the film does stray greatly from the 'camelot' legend that was portrayed so well by films like 'excalibur'
after years of fighting under contract for the 'romans' 'arthur' and the remaining six 'knights' return to 'brittania' to collect their release papers.
however they are set one more dangerous mission from which they will not all survive before the papers are given over.
yet the story-line as different as it was from the legend so many of us know does not spoil the spectacle, this is a credible and well portrayed 'action' film.
in short... great action...great alternative story...great cast and superb special effects.

What Legends are made of

A full blooded action-packed blockbuster. Picture is clear & sharp and audio clean & crisp. A great film and perhaps, at long last, the truth behind the Arthur legend.
