History was made...by these guys? Zed (Jack Black) and Oh (Michael Cera) are cavemen who stumble out of the mountains into an epic journey of biblical proportions. One's a bumbling hunter, the other's a gentle gatherer
together, they become unlikely participants in history's most pivotal moments. Directed and co-written by comedy legend Harold Ramis (Groundhog Day, Caddyshack, Analyze This), Year One is rude, crude, wildly absurd, deliciously tasteless and laugh-out-loud funny!

A huge misfire from all concerned. Anything remotely funny was in the trailer - the film is just dull and poorly written and acted. Avoid.

Poor effort from Ramis

In my view this was a very poor film. If you are buying this because you remember classic Ramis films Groundhog Day and Ghostbusters you will be disappointed.
If you are a diehard Jack Black and Michael Cera fan it might be worth a go but to be honest i think i only lauged once watching this film and this is supposed to be a comedy

Silly, Funny and just a little bit violent!

This film was pretty wierd. In some scenes it is like the style of epic or scary movie and everything looks a bit fake but thats only in some parts. Jack Black was halarious as his jokes were old fashioned but funny. Some jokes weren't as funny as they are shown on the trailer though. The blu ray really brings out the wild side of this film! Harold Ramis did a great job! GREAT MOVIE!!!!

What a laugh!!

Took a risk on renting this thinking it looked like a typical comedy, where all the funny parts have been shown in the trailer, but i had a voucher to use so gambled on this film and i was pleasently suprised! This was a super funny film i didnt stop laughing, the jokes are non-stop.
Jack Black is very much up to his old tricks, as is Michael Cera but they gel so well together, many cameo star roles through out all bringing their own little piece of comedic magic to the pie, couldnt fault the film it.
The verdict is that this is a brilliant no-brainer comedy and if you enjoy anything from either of the leading roles? You'll enjoy this.

'typical 'jack black' material'
Posted by Play.com Reviewer, 23/10/2009 23:40:10
the film follows the fortunes of 'o' zed' ( jack black ) who after being banished from his village journey's into the unknown zone with friend 'er Oh' ( micheal cera )
along the way there are several 'biblical' 'send-ups, which in many instances are quite funny, they even get to try and save the women they had fancied from their village, who had since 'o' zed' and friend left been snatched and sold as slaves.
this is an okay 'blu-ray' transfer, which may well have a follow-up, could it begin by meeting 'moses' and his people leaving 'egypt' as 'o' zed' and friends head in ?? ( we'll have to wait and see )
