I'm so glad I found this band, they've really opened my eyes to an amazing genre.
I can't compare this to any of Apocalyptica's other albums as this is the first one I've bought, but in any case this is a masterpeeice and I would be pleasently suprised if it wasn't their best.
As albums should, it starts with an energetic, catchy, 5 star, in your face track, but then is bested by some brilliant instrumental tracks, hybrids of high pitched haunting cellos and blasting (still cello) metal riffs topped with a furious drummer, who rarely ruins it all. Then a song that although beautiful, is one of the worst on the album, due to the cheesyness, it's got some brilliant sorrowful vocals though, the emotion seeps into Misconstruction and then morphs into Fisheye, which is just epic, though a bit much, and NEEDS to be listened to in HQ (Otherwise it's quite messy). From there on the songs exercise the classical side more but still throw in shades of heaviness, and the opposite of that in Betrayal/Forgiveness. Also, Ending with Ruska and Deathzone, which just sounds like perfection, En Vie, the french hidden track, is also a favourite.
I'll definately buy all their other work now. 5/5
