I have been listening to the Twins for 20 years + and still consider their music to be timeless. Treasure is indeed a Treasure from the word go. With Robin Guthrie and Elizabeth Frazer at the helm, I would expect nothing less than superb. This album delivers on every level and I am not in the least bit embarrassed by saying that this group are on of the most underestimated of all times, I simply love them. Treasure can hold its head high against Garlands and Head Over Heels (my personal favourite) yet does so with the highest of esteem. I am writing this as someone who appreciates the finer detail of music, please listen to the Cocteau Twins (and while your at it please listen to This Mortal Coil - It'll End In Tears - I'm sure it will!)

Quite simply THE greatest album of all time!

If you don't own this album already. buy it immediately. If you like your music to be different and interesting you won't be dissapointed. As the great John Peel once said around the time Treasure was released 'If you can't appreciated the Cocteau Twins, then you might as well be dead'. The Cocteau Twins reputation was built on creating music which was entirely unique, and demands repeated listening to hear all the different elements of their recordings. I once played this album to a friend who thought it was a compilation of their hits, strangely a single was never released from this album. Though aikea guinea did follow it and still remains the greatest track ever, by anyone. Loreli, Pandora, Betrix, Amelia, persephone and Donima are all quite simply stunning recordings.

their 2nd finest album...

if it had not been for the brilliance of Blue Bell Knoll, this album would easily be the Cocteau Twins' finest in my opinion.
Musically this album retains the dark almost sinister elements of their early works while offering glimpses of the light at the end of the tunnel. Liz Fraser's voice also came to the fore. Previously i felt it was restrained, while on this album a Goddess was unleashed. Donimo is probably the best showcasing of it on this album - powerful, at times dark, but in the end explodes and emerges into the light. a prelude for what was to come on later albums. many of the other tracks contrast as well, some being more upbeat (Lorelei) while others were much more melancholic (Pandora). despite this contrast, the album somehow fits together beautifully.
