i saw the band a number of times during this period, culminating in concerts at earls court in june 77.i remember i had just turned 18,bought a fabulous black with red feltt shirt.of the band. first time id seen the lazers at a gig, and was totally in awe of it all., A week later i saw bad company at the same venue! later in the year this album was released basically the same set. memories that will stay with me forever, anyone else there? anyone still got one of those t shirts!

The best ever live rock album

Could not agree more with the other reviews,it is simply superb and much, much better than the later live albums when they were more of a pop band.It has atmosphere and power and they are a very tight unit,it flows brilliantly, wish I'd seen them on this tour.
Genesis were not the same after Hackett(lovely bloke to speak to) left and they slowly but surely turned into 80's bland pop fodder.Suppers Ready on here is mindblowing, prog rock at its best and for me very moving, highly recommended.

The best there is and possibly ever will be

This album is by far and away the best that Genesis ever did. All the more remarkable then that it is a live album. It has been heralded by many who should know, as the best live album ever produced. Whether this is true or not is of little importance, what matters here is that its Genesis captured at their very best. The sound produced by the band was both explosive and extremely tight. It has the ability to engage every sense of your listening ability as this Genesis sound is incredibly complex and yet superbly orchestrated. The album is superbly planned, with the softer more acoustic tracks leading the way to the live version of Suppers Ready which is just stunning. With Cinema Show, Dance on a Volcano and Los Endos closing out the album, it never fails to send a tingle of euphoria down your spine. It is in a word, sensational! It is also the last time that Steve Hackett appears as a member of the band which was a great shame as his contribution on this album was mind blowing!!

An excellent live album from the late 70's, showcasing material from the Gabriel era up to the album of that tour, Wind and Wuthering. This live set captures Genesis at their very best in an era where punk was at it's height.
This album is a milestone and a turning point for the band who took a more commercial route with subsequent albums. Thumbs up from me!
