From acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins), comes a mysterious story of two magicians whose intense rivalry leads them on a life-long battle for supremacy with dangerous and deadly consequences. From the time that they first met as young magicians on the rise, Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) were competitors. However, their friendly competition evolves into a bitter rivalry making them fierce enemies-for-life and consequently jeopardizing the lives of everyone around them. Full of twists and turns, The Prestige is set against the backdrop of turn-of-the-century London, with an exceptional cast that includes two-time Oscar winner Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson and David Bowie.
Based on the novel by Christopher Priest.

I honestly believe this to be Christopher Nolan's second best film after "The Dark Knight". The pacing and intelligence of the script are in perfect harmony. The performances are top notch Scarlett aside. The casting is perfect too.
The transfer onto Blu-ray is one of the best you will ever find. I was astonished at the detail and sharpness of the image. The colours are vibrant and skin tone is natural looking. No edge enhancement or artifacting were evident and no usage of DNR. Presented with an AVC transfer onto a BR50 disc so no compression issues either. I was astonished at the detail in the blacks with no crushing. 5/5 A truely perfect transfer.
This disc is reference quality and rivals No Country For Old Men.
A fantastic purchase.

I bought this film because I am a huge fan of Christopher Nolan's films, and this didn't disappoint! The brilliant cast and great visuals are second only to the twisting and turning plot which holds you for the whole film. Well worth a watch...or several.

Just want to start off by saying Christopher Nolan is my favourite director he does everything in film making right my favourite film being the dark knight I have the majority of his films with only a few left to get I love all of his movies and I'm looking forward to seeing the dark knight rises. The film starts with a circular narrative (end at the beginning) and the story unfolds with many clever twists and turns i love every moment of this film and always enjoy re watching it 10/10

5 stars should be reserved for those which cannot be bettered. it is an opinion and the true verdict for one can only be given once having seen the film in question. that being said and realising thats ones 5 star may be anothers 2 star, the prestige at worst should have a average star rating of 4. a film that keeps you guessing and keeps your attention throughout..suspense, emotion, trickery, obsession! 4.5/5
Blu ray qual:
amazing transfer from Buena Vista. there best yet. not much of a colour film or special effects but beautiful detail allows every wrinkle to be seen! clear, crisp, sharp. grain / digital noise are non existant!! 4.5/5

Based in the late 1800s "The Prestige" tells the tale of two talented magicians in London who become involved in a fierce rivalry which has no limits! The film contains several twists and turns which all come together to form an incredibly satisfying conclusion.
"The Prestige" is breathtaking. It is a fantastic film directed by the very talented Christopher Nolan (the man behind "The Dark Knight" and "Memento") and stars Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman who do a phenomenal job potraying the characters.
The film is brilliant and entertains from the first minute to the last.
