About the Music: 'Love Is ...' is a collection of musical gems that reaches out through an array of musical genres: smooth jazz, cabaret, Broadway, pop, and classic standards. The mood is soothing, thoughtful, romantic at times, funny at others, and real throughout. Marilyn Zavidow sings with richness of voice and a deep understanding of what each song means at it's heart. Marilyn has included two of her originals, 'Taillights' and 'You'll Be Here' in the lineup, along with songs from musical greats: Michel Legrand, James Van Heusen, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, Cole Porter, Judy Collins, George and Ira Gershwin, Stephen Sondheim, and Kurt Weill - to name a few. The arrangements by Don Rebic and the musicians playing them are top notch: Don Rebic - Piano and Orchestration, Carl Allen -Percussion, Gene Bertoncini - Guitar, Chip Jackson on Bass, Dave Schiavone - Saxophone and Flute, and Eric Wills - Special Percussion. From Marilyn: Love Is......Immense. When I think of all that Love is, I am in awe - so many meanings to so many people. Precious. Elusive. Evident. Intensely personal and yet a force of unimaginable power - transpersonal, transforming. Lost, found, so easy, so very hard. How do we know it? When is it real? How do we live it, day to day? How do we find the strength to make the loving choice - with those closest to us, with everyone we touch? Many wise and poetic souls have offered: Love is the answer - to everything. And after all these years I've lived, I've come to believe that, yes, this is true, simplistic as it seems at first. It is a comfort and a challenge. I hope you enjoy these wonderful songs about Love. People are telling me that the CD makes them feel good and I hope you will feel that way, too. What more could I ask! Love is ... -- well, you finish the sentence. Marilyn More about Marilyn Zavidow: Singer/songwriter Marilyn Zavidow started early, singing along with Ethel Merman, Mary Martin, Julie andrews, Tony Martin, and Bobby Short as they belted and crooned from the Magnavox hi-fi in the corner of the family living room. In the years since she has written, directed, produced, and performed for over 20 years in musical and comedy productions on cabaret, corporate, and community stages. She has been described as an elegant performer who knows instinctively how to communicate with her audience. As one fan puts it: 'Her unique take on life always leaves you not just thoroughly entertained, but also thinking.' Her first CD, 'When You Least Expect It,' was recorded in 2001 and features all original music. She has written and performed several concert shows, including her Cole Porter revue, 'Port of Cole' and 'Love -After All.' She also is the lyricist for the children's musical, 'The Princess Puzzle,' writes custom corporate musical parody for business meetings and private events, and is an active producer and feature for fundraiser concerts for charities and community service organizations. More About Don Rebic: Don Rebic is a multitalented musical artist, who right after graduating college with a degree in classical and jazz piano performance, moved to NYC, and within a year was conducting his first show on Broadway, 'Jesus Christ Superstar.' Since then, he's been busy as a conductor, pianist, and composer. His theatrical credits also include Broadway companies of 'Dancin'' and 'Sweet Charity,' both directed by Bob Fosse; and 'Anything Goes' starring Patti Lupone among many others. He has conducted for national companies of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' and 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' starring Chita Rivera. As an accompanist and musical director, he's worked with a variety of singers, including Barbara cook, Peggy Lee, Kiri Te Kanawa, Betty Buckley, Lainie Kazan, Karen Akers, Julius la Rosa, Ricky Martin, and Jose Carreras. As a jazz performer, he's played with some of the best, including trumpeter Randy Brecker; guitarist Mundel Lowe; saxophonists Jesse Davis and Vincent Haring. Don's first solo album, Together, is attracting praise from audiences, critics, and disk jockeys. Stephen
